Alejandra Bologna Zubikarai from the Consulado General de México en San José served as the main speaker, offering invaluable insights on immigration policies and workforce challenges.

This beautifully adorned tree, decorated with love and care by our incredible volunteers, is a symbol of hope, joy, and the power of giving during this festive season.
For years, we’ve been committed to bringing smiles and light to local families, ensuring that the magic of Christmas reaches every corner of our community. 

Nov 8, 2024: Two Hollister servicemen to be honored on Veterans Day. David Lopez and Raymond Lopez have a history of service to country and community. “They exemplify a spirit of excellence, consistently going above and beyond to improve the lives of those around them,” said LULAC President Irma Gonzalez. “Their dedication to supporting their community and fellow veterans alike is evident in every initiative they undertake, making a profound impact on the lives of countless individuals.”

Oct 4, 2024: LULAC’s Irma Gonzalez expresses concerns about agricultural pesticide exposure causing health issues. Recent discussions hosted by the San Benito County League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) have brought to light a pressing issue affecting the health and safety of local residents: pesticide exposure. At a recent meeting, Yanely Martinez, the Central Coast Organizing Coordinator for Safe Ag Safe Schools (SASS), highlighted the coalition’s mission to reduce the risks associated with pesticide use in the Monterey Bay region, particularly for school children.

 

 

Sept 25, 2024: San Benito County proudly continues its celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month with a proclamation passed by the County Board of Supervisors, reaffirming the county’s commitment to recognizing and honoring the rich culture, history, and contributions of the Hispanic and Latin community. Elia Salinas accepted the certificate on behalf of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), underscoring the organization’s dedication to advocacy and community support.

The county remains committed to inclusivity by offering essential services and information in Spanish, ensuring stronger connections with the Hispanic and Latin community. San Benito County values and celebrates the vital role this community plays in shaping our shared future.

Oct 1, 2024 – San Benito County, CA: Nominees will be recognized at the annual Veterans Day ceremony on November 11. The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the oldest Hispanic civil rights organization in our country and county, in collaboration with VFW Post 9242, proudly announces that nominations for the 2024 Veteran of the Year Award are now open. This prestigious award will be presented during the annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Nov. 11, 2024, led by Commander Bernie Ramirez at the Hollister Veterans’ Memorial Building.

Aug 20, 2024: Joe Paul Gonzalez becomes first Latino president of of the California State Association of County Auditors.

This year, CSACA, which consists of chief accounting officers or financial directors of all 58 counties in California, selected Gonzalez as its president—the first Latino to hold that position. 

“The goal of the organization,” Gonzalez said, “is to provide an educational forum for the improvement of our craft. The state controller’s office meets with us to discuss ongoing issues and how to resolve them.”
